Where is Hotel Tauferberg located?

Hotel Tauferberg is situated in the mountain village of Niederthai at an altitude of around 1,500 metres in the Ötztal valley, Tyrol, Austria – approximately 25 kilometres from the Ötztal motorway exit (A12). Guests arriving by car will find a large, free car park at the hotel with 3 electric charging points (11 kW each).

Is there a pick-up service?

We’d be happy to pick you up from Ötztal railway station or Innsbruck Airport by prior arrangement.

What does the gourmet half board include?

The gourmet half board includes a generous breakfast buffet and an evening gourmet menu with a choice of dishes. The breakfast buffet offers freshly prepared egg dishes, a muesli station, yoghurt, regional breads and pastries, sausage and cheese specialities, fresh juices, a tea bar and fresh coffee.

In the evening, there is soup, crisp salads from the buffet, a choice of two main courses and delicious desserts. In addition, weekly themed evenings and a gala evening ensure variety on your plate.

What activities are available directly from the hotel?

In winter, the high-altitude cross-country trails of the plateau and the family-friendly Niederthai ski area are right on the hotel’s doorstep. Sledging, snowshoeing, and ski touring are also possible without needing to drive.

In summer, signposted hiking trails, mountain bike trails, and via ferrata routes lead directly from the hotel into the Ötztal and Stubai Alps. The Stuibenfall – Tyrol’s largest waterfall – is just a short hike away. We lend out walking poles and rucksacks free of charge; e-bikes, mountain bikes, snowshoes, and via ferrata equipment can be hired directly at the hotel.

Is Hotel Tauferberg family-friendly?

Yes, families with children of all ages are very welcome at Tauferberg. The hotel offers family rooms with two separate rooms as well as spacious apartments with up to three bedrooms. There is a large children’s playground right next to the hotel.

For the little ones, cots, high chairs, baby monitors, and sledge are available on request. The kitchen prepares special children’s menus, and numerous pram-friendly walking and hiking trails start right outside the hotel door. This allows parents to relax – and the children to discover the mountain world.

Is there a wellness area at Hotel Tauferberg?

Yes. Hotel Tauferberg has a small but excellent wellness area, which is free for all hotel guests to use. It features a Finnish sauna, a bio sauna, a steam bath, and an infrared cabin. Sensory showers and a Kneipp area provide refreshment after the heat; in the relaxation room, waterbeds and loungers invite you to unwind. Soothing massages can be booked directly at the hotel for an additional charge. We are deliberately not a traditional wellness hotel – but for genuine regeneration after an active day in the mountains, everything you need is here.

Can I hire an e-bike or mountain bike directly at the hotel?

Yes. E-bikes and mountain bikes can be hired directly at Hotel Tauferberg, without having to travel to an external hire shop. If you bring your own bike, you’ll find secure storage facilities as well as a dedicated shoe room for hiking and cycling boots.

Our hiking information centre has tour maps, hut guides, and personal recommendations for the most beautiful routes in the Ötztal valley. We’d be happy to advise you personally on which route suits your fitness level and experience.

Are there free parking spaces available?

Yes, free parking spaces are available for all guests right next to Hotel Tauferberg. Motorcycles can be parked under cover.

Are there electric charging points?

There are 3 electric charging points for electric vehicles, each with an 11 kW charging capacity.

How long has Tauferberg been run as a family business?

Hotel Tauferberg has been run by the Falkner family since 1970 – that’s over 50 years of hospitality in Niederthai. What began with Julie and Ignaz Falkner as a small mountain inn with 35 beds and a restaurant for 55 people has grown into an activity hotel with 55 beds and several guesthouses.

The hotel’s philosophy has remained the same since day one: “Finding a home away from home.” Today, Hermann Falkner runs the business.
