The Niederthai cross-country skiing area is situated at an altitude of 1,550 metres above sea level in the Ötztal valley in Tyrol and has been awarded the Tyrolean Cross-Country Ski Trail Seal of Quality. The trailhead is located right next to Hotel Tauferberg. Cross-country skiing enthusiasts can choose between trails of varying difficulty levels for skating and classic-style skiing. Whether you’re a beginner, a leisure skier, or an experienced cross-country skier: everyone will find the right route in Niederthai.

 

The high-altitude trails on the plateau lead right past our active hotel in the Ötztal valley. Thanks to professional snow-making systems, the cross-country trails are guaranteed to have snow and are groomed daily – including a skating track. Every December, a cross-country skiing season opener takes place in Niederthai.

 

The Niederthai cross-country skiing area comprises five interconnected trails: the Sonnenplateauloipe, the Horlachtalloipe, the Matau-Loipe, the Frühloipe, and the Tauferbergloipe. The Sonnenplateauloipe runs right past Hotel Tauferberg and is also the night trail: it’s illuminated from Monday to Friday from 6 p.m. to 9.30 p.m.

 

With the Niederthai Card, use of the cross-country trails in Niederthai is free of charge – the card also includes a taster cross-country skiing course and a taster biathlon.

Weekly cross-country skiing course for beginners and intermediate skiers

Every week, a cross-country skiing taster course for beginners and intermediate skiers takes place in Niederthai – led by experienced cross-country skiing instructors. This allows you to improve your technique right on the spot, without a long journey.

 

An equipment and wax test is carried out once a month. The cross-country skiing schools in Ötztal offer cross-country skiing courses.

Taster biathlon in Niederthai

A taster biathlon takes place every Thursday and Sunday from 1.00 to 3.00 p.m. in Niederthai.

 

The Niederthai biathlon facility is equipped with laser guns. The cross-country skiing instructors from Niederthai teach you this exciting winter sport.
