Accompanied by qualified mountain guides, our guests can enjoy leisurely family hikes and a variety of themed walks to the most beautiful Alpine pastures and huts in the Ötztal Alps. When hiking in Ötztal, over 200 huts, Alpine pastures, and refreshment stops offer places to stop for a bite to eat. The unique natural landscape of the Ötztal and Stubai Alps awaits you with imposing glaciers, vibrantly coloured larch forests, and idyllic mountain lakes.

Explore the nature park while hiking in Ötztal
Hotel Tauferberg is situated in the heart of the Ötztal Nature Park – with over 500km², it’s Austria’s third-largest nature park and boasts the country’s largest proportion of glacier area (just under 20%). As a partner establishment of the nature park, participation in all nature park hikes is free of charge for hotel guests.
In addition to protected Swiss stone pine forests, steep rock faces, and unspoilt flora and fauna, an incomparable lake landscape awaits you on your hikes in Ötztal. Natural history research and high-alpine archaeology are among the other special features of this protected area. The unique landscape invites you to enjoy active experiences in summer and winter alike.
The Ötztal Nature Park offers several guided themed hikes each week, over 25 individual events on current nature-related topics, and a dedicated children’s programme – including themed trails on high-alpine archaeology, glaciology, and life in the Obergurgl Swiss stone pine forest.
